Manuscript Submission
Manuscript Deadline: June 30, 2026
Please, read this page carefully before submitting your manuscript. You will get information about the formatting of your manuscript, as well as the website link to submit your manuscript.
1) Determining the Journal for your manuscript: Vacuum or Surface and Coatings Technology?
All accepted papers will be published in special issues of Vacuum or Surface and Coatings Technology.
The authors can choose which journal to submit their article to. If the paper does not fit the scope of the chosen journal, the editor will transfer the paper to the other journal.
Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that the authors have obtained the necessary authority for publication and will be peer-reviewed according to the usual high standards of these archival international journals. Upon acceptance of an article by the Editors, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright to Elsevier Science Publishers.

Again, please adhere to the deadline of June 30, 2026, for the submission of your manuscript. This will allow our editorial team to initiate the peer review process early, complete their editorial work rapidly, and ensure timely publication. We very much appreciate your cooperation.
Please note: the submission can only be made through the special Elsevier website submission for our conference, as explained below. The general instructions to write and submit the manuscript are also explained below.
Very Important: Note that manuscripts will not be accepted for publication in the Special Issues unless they have been delivered at the conference as oral or poster presentations by the authors listed in the program.
2) Cover Letter
Your cover letter must clearly include:
- The on-site presentation identification number, as listed in the program book, is ICMCTF 2026.
- The title of the presentation, as it appears in the program book.
- The name of the presenter at the conference.
- The novelty and originality of your research and its scientific contribution beyond previously published papers.
If your cover letter does not include all the above information, the manuscript will be delayed until we manually verify that your manuscript has been presented at ICMCTF 2026, or in the last case, returned to the authors for completion.
3) Manuscript Format

4) Submitting your Manuscript to Vacuum
- Go to: https://www.editorialmanager.com/VAC
- Log in to the website as “author.”
- Select “Submit New Manuscript.”
- In the new page, choose the “Article Type” of your submission from the drop-down menu on the left. You must choose “VCI: ICMCTF 2026 (VAC)” as the article type.
Please note: If you choose a different option, your article won’t be considered by the ICMCTF 2026 Conference.
5) Submitting your manuscript to Surface and Coatings Technology
- Go to: https://www2.cloud.editorialmanager.com/surfcoat/default2.aspx
- Log in to the website as “author.”
- Select “Submit New Manuscript.”
- In the new page, choose the “Article Type” of your submission from the drop-down menu on the left. You must choose one of two options (see red arrow in figure below):
VSI: ICMCTF 2026 (SCT)_Research Article as the article type if you present novel research, or: VSI: ICMCTF 2026 (SCT)_Review Article if your article is a review.
Please note: If you choose a different option, your article will not be considered by the ICMCTF 2026 Conference.
6) Submission Problems
If you have a website problem when submitting your manuscript, you can always check the “Help” section from Elsevier at each journal, as well as send them an email.
